Baylor's Cameron Out For Season
Waco, TX--Senior forward Molly Cameron of Baylor University suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on her left knee during preseason practice and will miss the entire 1999 soccer season.

She was scheduled to undergo surgery August 17 and has applied for a medical redshirt.

"Obviously this is unfortunate, but Molly is a competitor. She has come back from injury before and we expect the same this time. Without a doubt, Molly will be our number one recruit next year," head coach Nick Cowell said.

Cameron leads Baylor in career scoring with 136 points and in career goals with 56. She holds the team's single season record for points with 75 and goals scored with 32. She has six career hat tricks and holds the school's record for
goals scored in a game with five. A Soccer Buzz 1998 Honorable Mention All-America, Cameron was also named the National Player of the Year in 1996 for First Year Programs when Baylor began its first season of varsity competition.

During her three-year career, Cameron has started in 61 of 63 games. She missed two games during the 1998 season due to ankle injuries, yet still managed to finish as the team's second leading scorer with 11 goals and three assists for a total of 25 points.

A product of Union High School in Tulsa, Okla., Cameron underwent surgery to correct laxity in her ankle prior to the 1998 soccer season.
