HIGHLIGHTS |
Top 3 |
North Carolina |
Five recruits with US Youth National Team experience. Keeper Yount-Winget balances loads of offense signed by Heels. Morrell and Randolph are Top 10 recruits as is McDowell, Gatorade's National Player of Year. Blomgren adds depth and heads UNC's second tier group of all-staters Winslow, Felts and Gervais that puts Carolina in line for a possible #1 recruit ranking. |
Top 3 |
Texas |
Longhorns ink five Parade All-Americas all with US Youth National team experience. Gagarin may be top keeper in nation and McDonald and Wilson rank among best strikers. Texas rounds out a balanced class with top wing and backs in Kram and Breger. |
Top 3 |
Virginia |
Maybe best class in UVA history includes five NSCAA All-Americas, four on current US U19 Team pool. All out-of-state signings headlined by Fabrizio and Bunch. Striker Gusick will give punch up front while Trainor adds depth to midfield. Wood is fifth HS All-American and only west coast recruit. A sixth signee, Hatch, inks late and adds another Parade All-America and US Youth National teamer to a Wahoo class pushing for a #1 Ranking. |
Top 10 |
Arizona State |
Best class in ASU history as Coach Leone kicks off new era. A top player signed at each position: keeper Fitzgerald, middie Wilson, back Reynolds and striker Peel. In-stater Fletcher rounds out potential Top 10 signing class. |
Top 10 |
Florida |
Johnson and Johnston are the blue-chippers for the Gators as both have seen time on US Youth National teams. Floridian Kellgren could be a surprise and is joined by two of her Clearwater club teammates in Ebert and Freeman along with another Floridian, Gardner. NSCAA All-American Hoyles is among best in Midwest. |
Top 10 |
Florida State |
FSU class is solid top to bottom with five impact players. Local product Cagle is joined by two Oklahomans, Bybee and Ratliff who will be goal scorers for the Noles. Defender Beal and Keeper York strengthen FSU's defense. |
Top 10 |
Portland |
A very west coast class will keep Portland in the national picture as two US youth national players ink with the Pilots. Moore and Huie, both of Mission Viejo, will challenge immediately for starting roles. The real gem for Coach Charles may be Canadian sensation Christine Sinclair who has been a real force on the full Canadian National Team. Club Surf starter Rogers gives Portland an impressive quartet that should equal a Top 10 recruiting class. Late signee Heller out of Arizona will give the Pilots depth in midfield. |
Top 10 |
Santa Clara |
Large Bronco class includes four Parade All-Americas. Two US U19 players, Tahmassian and Ballweg leave the east coast and join a third national teamer, Osborne, at Santa Clara. Californians Horvath and Azevedo should both be big contributors for Coach Smith. UC-Irvine transfer Shepperd could provide depth on offense. |
Top 10 |
Tennessee |
Vols jump into soccer elite with an eye-popping class of recruits. Dowling, Flamini and Lockaby all were Parade and NSCAA All-Americas as well as US Youth National Team players. UNC transfer Kim Patrick makes Tennesse instant threat to anyone's schedule. Local all-stater Couns and FC Royals club standout Patterson will strengthen depth. |
Top 10 |
UCLA |
Bruins solidify Top 10 class with two huge transfers: Mikacenic of Notre Dame and All-Everything Monroe from UConn. They join four Californians with solid credentials. Keeper Lombardo has seen time on US Youth teams. Fazio is a Parade All-America and Billingsley and Durbin are two of the top players in state of California. |
Top 25 |
Boston College |
BC's class all comes from the Northeast. Three state of Mass athletes stay close to home: NSCAA All-American Ceddia, Fairweather and Goddard. Servedio from NY could be top signee with US National Youth team experience and Docherty signs as one of top players in Pennsylvania. |
Top 25 |
BYU |
This class has no Cramer like the 2000 class did but Krainik, Stock and Devine give BYU the field players to stay among the nation's elite. Campbell and Davis out of California and goalie Gott from Colorado add up to a deep class for BYU. |
Top 25 |
Duke |
The Blue Devils get four signees ranked among Top 100 seniors. Strikers McCluskey and Simel from the South ink with California defender O'Connor. Illinois goalkeeper Straka gives the Devils four all-staters. |
Top 25 |
Georgia |
One of the top classes out of the SEC that should put Bulldogs back into national soccer rankings. Co is one player who has national level experience but UGA's class ranks near top due to depth and all-around talent signed. Florida transfer Velasco will factor into recruiting success joining three Texans (Co, McKee and Lindley). All-Staters Metherell, Allen, Harris, Winingder and Beegle along with keeper Fowler give Georgia one of the largest classes in 2001. |
Top 25 |
North Carolina State |
The Wolfpack could have a class that helps return the program to its 80's glory days. Blume and Bojcun are two former US Youth National Team players who could step right into the offense. German National U18 Teamer Schmidt could be the Pack's go to player in her first year. Keeper Gomez out of Florida has ODP Regional Team experience and two local in-staters, Josephson and Pardue, are capable of stepping into defensive roles. |
Top 25 |
Notre Dame |
Boland is the top American recruit for the Irish who also landed two International players in Canadian Chapman and Icelander Gunnarsdottir. Tulisiak gives Irish second Ohio native and Tampa native Jones may eventually contribute in midfield. |
Top 25 |
Princeton |
The Tigers haul in impressive group of East Coast signees. Three Canadians, including two-Janine and Rochelle Willis-on National Teams, top the Princeton class. Two Windsor World Class club standouts, Fontanez and Negron, should add offense while Byrd and Hendricks add to the wing depth. Californian Morelli takes club experience to the east to round out the Princeton signees. |
Top 25 |
Southern California |
An all-California class for the Women of Troy includes two US National Youth teamers in Casas and Pruett. NSCAA All-American Kakadelas and South Cal Blues standout Staples should put USC in the Top 20 best recruit classes. Late signees and club FRAM teammates Blais and Green strengthen the USC midfield. |
Top 25 |
Stanford |
A small class with lethal weapons in Grady and Sanderson. Both state players of the year, Sanderson is Parade HS National Player of Year. Grady gives Cardinal second player with US Youth national team experience. Engel gives Stanford a second California signee and Wayland out of Massachusetts and Shim out of Atlanta round out the class. |
Top 25 |
Texas A&M |
A&M hauls in another impressive group of freshmen. Two Parade All-Americans, Burke and Kacsmaryk, have US Youth team experience. Labhart and Johnson rank among Top 100 seniors and Smith, the only non-Texas signee, comes in as the Oregon Player of the Year. |
Top 25 |
Wake Forest |
NSCAA All-American McCrudden is the Deacons top newcomer. Midfielder Hunt stays in-state and Georgian Raymer inks to strengthen Wake's midfield. |
Top 25 |
Washington |
Washington's class consists of at least six solid players, mostly offensive. None are Top 25 recruits but add up to a dangerous addition to the Huskies' recent return to the top. Local product Martinez will be joined by three Californians (Schweigert, Smith and Taylor), Canadian Rustad and Giles from Oregon. In-staters Frimpong and Laird both bring solid club credentials and ODP experience to UW. |
Top 25 |
West Virginia |
The Mountaineers ending with a Top 25 recruiting class would be a huge feat. Three NSCAA All-American seniors are joined by transfer Zanti who earned All-America honors in high school as well. Marshall and Hutchins are West Virginia locals who signed along with two Pennslyvania standouts, Kane and Weimer. The six Mountaineer signees total over 16 All-State honors. |
